QUESTION: CAN YOU PUT A WATERPROOF MATTRESS COVER OVER THIS HEATED PAD?
Hmm. I have to be honest and tell you that I really don't know. The tag, and directions don't address anything like that. The pad is machine washable and you can dry it in the clothes dryer on low heat. Forgive me, because I am a nurse and I think like a nurse. So, I am wondering why you would want to do that? An elderly person perhaps that is incontinent? Or for a child that is a bed wetter? I just have to give my opinion only. And that is this...I personally wouldn't recommend using for a child, for many reasons. The heat settings go from Low to 9. I haven't put it any higher than 6 yet and that is pretty warm. The controller can be easily adjusted, and I wouldn't want a child to get it up too high. Not that it would burn them, but that hot and adding "water" to it ...not safe. Now, if it was for an adult that is incontinent, and it could be monitored closely...then I'd say, perhaps. If my Mom had arthritis and was incontinent, yes, I would use it with a waterproof cover over it. But then again, I would be very careful to monitor settings and wetness. So, that's just my opinion. I am sure you understand that the product itself IS a mattress pad cover, and then you want to put ANOTHER mattress pad over it for waterproof protection. This mattress pad is very thick. Anyway, just keep in mind, water and electricity just don't mix. Be careful and use your own judgment. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck!
If you have to have a waterproof mattress cover on, then you could put a quilted mattress cover over that and the heated mattress pad on top.and keep it on low settings....the best thing, however, is to purchase a heated blanket instead.
From a safety perspective, I would say its not a good idea. At the higher settings this pad gets very warm. If dealing with bed wetting, there are other alternatives, I.e. placing a "soaker pad" on top or underneath the fitted sheet to absorb fluid. This is a thin pad used in nursing homes placed on the bed at the hip region to absorb urine. They can be purchased at most Walmarts, etc. A heated blanket might be a better idea.

QUESTION: CAN IT BE USED ON AN ADJUSTABLE BED FRAME
I don't really know for sure but I don't see why it couldn't be used on an adjustable bed .
Paul, I don't know why Amazon referred your question to me "As a reviewer of Sunbeam Thermofine Quilted. . ." Apparently they didn't look at my review which said I bought the item as a gift, had it drop shipped, and have had no report on how well it functions (not to mention whether it can be used on and adjustable bed frame. Sorry.
Yes, I think it would work just fine.

QUESTION: PLUG IN AT FOOT OF BED SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE. HAS ANYONE TRIED PUTTING THIS AT HEAD OF BED? HOW DID THAT WORK? DOES THIS FIT LIKE FITTED SHEET?
Yes it fits like a fitted sheet, just not as tight. I have not had an issue with the plug at the foot of the bed. I have not tried it at the head of the bed.
Yes, fitted sheet fits fine. Never tried to put the plug at the head of the bed, can't see why you can't try.
Yes it is fitted. I actually like mine plugged at the head of the bed but you need to stuff the cords behind your bed or under the mattress. The plug in part is uncomfortable because it is sewn into the fitted mattress cover under your pillow if u decide to keep the cords at the top. So if you should loose your pillow in the night....your head or side of your head will feel a little uncomfortable if it lies on this sewn in plug. So I use a towel folded to place over the plug. (Or whatever material you have handy). I love mine. I have a bad back so the warmth is great on a cold night. I hope this is helpful.
It works good
The plug in at the foot of the bed, is a bit annoying and takes a little getting use too at first. However, for me over time, it no longer bothers me now. Definately something to consider before purchase. I've never thought of putting the plug near the top, quite honestly I think that would bother me more. This is my second heated mattress pad, and they both had the plug at the foot of the bed. It fits just like a fitted sheet, but not as tight. I just put my fitted, and top sheet over it, and it works out fine! Great product. Love it for those cold winter nights, this keeps you nice and toasty! Couldn't imagine a winter without one~!
No problems at the foot at all. It's in the middle and one wire. Most have 2 wires, one for each side.

QUESTION: DO ALL FULL SIZE PADS HAVE DUAL CONTROLS?
I ordered a Queen and it has dual controls. I ordered this brand specifically for that reason. I really only use one side cause it heats so well and I like to lay in the middle of my bed to have a half warm and half cool side. I'm cold one minute and hot the next! haha I'm not sure about the full size pads? I didn't look into that.
Yes I love my dual controls for each side of the bed.
No, it is a single control.
I purchased a king, that does have two controls

QUESTION: DOES IT HEAT ALL THE WAY DOWN? I WANT TO HAVE WARM FEET.
I tend to have cold feet, and this mattress cover keeps them warm, so I'm assuming it does heat all the way down.
You will get very toasty with this product. I recommend turning it on about 1p minutes before bed time and pull your bedsheets and blankets all the way up so they are heated, as well. I turn my side between 2-3 and my husband chooses 5 or 6. We are happy with it.
Yes it does, really helps my cold feet but does feel warmer higher up because you have more body mass.
Depends on your height .. For a 6' person like me, not really .. The heating element has to loop back on itself so there is a slight margin that is not heated .. I solve the problem by wearing comfortable, loose woven socks.. Even with that issue, the mattress heating pad is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone who is medically fit to use it.
Yes it does I love it
It heats as far down as the elements go. In order to be able to tuck blanket in, there are no elements at the far bottom of the blanket in order to be able to do that.
Yes it does I love my heating pad very happy .
Yes it does, I love mine. I turn mine on 6 about on hour before I go to bed. It's nice and warm when I get in than I turn it on 2.
Yes it does.
You will have more than warm feet.

QUESTION: DOES THIS PAD HAVE ZONED HEAT - WARMER AT THE FOOT?
Not to my knowledge. It just has 2 controls for each half.
It seems to me that it is evenly heated throughout the pad with no special zone at the foot. I have the twin size.
It doesn't seem to!
No,I believe it is uniformly heated
My wife thinks so, but I don't feel much of a difference. There are controls for each side of the bed, but none for foot/head.

QUESTION: WILL THIS MATTRESS PAD FIT A TWIN XL MATTRESS
Although I didn't buy the twin size, I can tell you that the sides that fit around the mattress are exceptionally ample and stretchy. My boat mattress is wider than queen at the top (but full/double in length), but the full/double size of this heated pad (considerably narrower than the queen+ width of my mattress) adapted and fit quite nicely.
Mine is for a queen sized bed. I don't know if it would be long enough for a twin XL, but it certainly would be far too wide. It would not be good to tuck or wrap the pad with the wires around a smaller mattress, most likely it would malfunction.
A twin XL is 80 inches long. With the sides of the pads made the way it is, I think there is more than enough room to buy the twin and have it fit the XL without any problems. I thought you were asking about a queen sized on a twin bed, forgive me.
I would assume that if the demensions of the twin xl mattress are the same as a queen, then sure. I don't really know anything about the twin xl myself, but the Sunbeam Thermofine is great, especially if you live in an area with cold climate.

QUESTION: DOES THIS HAVE ONE PLUG IN?
If you have dual controls as on queen or king then you have one plug for each controller. On twin only one
Yes,one.
It has one plug in to an outlet?
Yes, there is only one plug in. We have both the Queen and Twin versions. The queen has two controllers but still, only one plug for the wall outlet.
It does have 1 plug in, but it does have duel controllers which makes it nice.

QUESTION: MINE CAME TODAY AND ARE YOU SURPOSE TO FEEL THE CONNECTOR AT YOUR FEET OR DO I NOT HAVE IT PULLED FAR ENOUGH DOWN.
We bought the mattress pad for our guest futon which was only in use over Xmas. As I recall the connector was near the top edge of the mattress but not intruding on the top surface. Hope this is of use. P.S. the guests didn't complain!
I can feel it sometimes as well. That is probably the only negative about this product. We had another one which we also enjoyed but this one is better.
I guess it depends on the 'depth' of your mattress as to where the connecter lays. I scoot my down as far as I can as to not feel it, I also am not as concerned w/ heat by my head/shoulders as I am my Feet! Good Luck.
It's normal to feel connector with your feet but you get accustomed to it after a bit. Due to a change in bed position, ours is at the top now. I never notice it there.
I don't like the lump at my feet because I tend to hand my feet over. So I placed it the head. I works for me. Sleep warm and well!

QUESTION: DOES THE PLUG HAVE TWO PRONGS OR THREE? THE OUTLETS IN MY APARTMENT ARE THE OLD, TWO-PRONGED TYPE.
I believe it is only 2.
It has only two.
2 prong
They are two pronged, standard plug type
It's grounded, three-prong. You can get a cheater, but you might ask an electrician if that's considered safe for a heating unit.
It has two prongs. One fat prong and one regular size prong.
#Sunbeam_Thermofine

QUESTION: HAS ANYONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CONTROLS BLINKING ON AND OFF? STARTED TODAY. PAD IS ONLY 2 MONTHS OLD.
Have you checked the connection where the plug attaches to the the pad? The two arms must firmly grab the little pegs for a good connect. I have been using my mattress pad only 3 weeks so it is too early for a problem, but I solved the problem with my Sunbeam electric throw by tightening how the plug entered the throw. Thank you for posting this question. It warns me of a possible future problem.
I have not had that problem. I put mine on at level 3 about an hour before I go to bed and then turn off when I get into bed.
Not yet, but I've only had it for 6 weeks, and it is only used occasionally on a guest-room bed.
So far I have had no problem. Not using at the present.P McHenry I turn it off when I get in bed.
I have it set on 3 and turn it on before I go to bed, then after I'm in I turn it off. I would check the plugs, too.

QUESTION: IS THIS MACHINE WASH/DRY-ABLE?
Machine wash cool water...on delicate. Hang to dry. I put mine in dryer on med for 10 minutes then hang.. Do not hand over a line so wires are not bent. I spread mine over rails on my deck.
Sure.. this is the second one I've owned and after unplugging it just pop it into the washer/dryer and its all good.
Read the tags, it comes with instructions.

QUESTION: DOES THIS HAVE AN AUTO SHUT-OFF? I LIKE TO GET INTO A WARM BED, BUT PREFER IT TO SHUT OFF AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS AS IT GETS TOO WARM OVERNIGHT
It says in the manual there is an auto off setting that you can set....I always turn mine off when I get in bed...I just want to crawl into a warm bed.
It does shut off, however it's after 6-7 hours. The low setting is plenty warm for me and I live where -20 degrees Fahrenheit is not uncommon during the winter. Hope this helps.
I gave this as a Christmas gift.
All modern elect. blankets, by law, have automatic shut-off. I believe it's after 10 hours. And I don't think it was programmable, just the default 10 hours.
It shuts off after 10 or 12 hours........way too long for me.I usually turn it on 1 hour before I go to bed, turning it off when I get into bed. Bed stays nice and toasty until I fall asleep. (Course I also have 3 little dogs under the covers with me. :)
#Sunbeam_Thermofine_Quilted_Striped_Heated

QUESTION: CAN THIS BE SAFELY USED ON AIR MATTRESSES?
we have been useing one on sleep number bed for over 5 years and that just a big air mattres so I would say yes you can
we have a sleep by numbers bed, it works great! Have used mine for over 3 years. Bought one for my moms cold water bed....she loves it!
I would put a blanket over the air mattress, then proceed with the mattress pad.
#Sunbeam_Thermofine

QUESTION: CAN THIS BE WASHED AND DRIED AT HOME?
Yes
yes..they say it can be washed and dried. I have not done that yet though. there are instructions for doing that. But it does NOT have to be dry cleaned. If I could not wash it myself..I would not have gotten it. That is important to me too. It is so padded and comfortable. Great quality material andcovers a deep matrices too.
I haven't had mine but a couple months but I believe the instruction said you cold on gentle wash
I have two other heated mattress pads (a different brand) that I have washed numerous times. I use warm, not hot water, gentle cycle, slow spin and always hang it outside to air dry, never put it in the dryer. I've had them for several years and washing has done no damage at all. I haven't had this particular item long enough to have to wash it, but I plan to treat it the same as the others.
#Quilted_Striped_Heated

QUESTION: HAS ANYONE USED THIS WITH A PLASTIC LINED MATTRESS PAD OVER IT IN CASE OF YOUTH ACCIDENTS ETC.?
We use it with a plastic mattress cover, but it has a mattress pad between that and the Termoline quilted cover.
We use heavy plastic sheeting across the area where accidents might happen. We wash sheets daily but the mattress pad stays protected.

QUESTION: DOES THE CONTROLLER'S ON/OFF BUTTON MAKE AN AUDIBLE CLICK? BUYING FOR MY BLIND GRANDMOTHER...
no it does not make an audible click
Sorry, it does make an audible click but it is very faint
Yes it does make a sound, however there are multiple settings so it may be difficult to determine when it is in the off position. It will automatically turn off after a couple of hours.
Yes it does and I can feel the controls move when I shut my eyes and turned the dial. For me, I think the problem would be for her to know what setting it is actually on. On low it could be on and you wouldn't know it. On the other h and, She will definitely know it is on at a higher setting.
Yes, but not very loud.
No, I don't think so.

QUESTION: IS THIS MATTRESS PAD WASHABLE?
Yes
Yes
Yes (per the label). I have not actually washed it, only spot washed it with a microfiber rag and the stain came up very easily. I tried to post the label here for your review, but I don't think I can? Drag & drop didn't work.
Yes
Yes

QUESTION: IS THE PART YOU LAY ON COTTON?
Now sure of the fabric type and I am too lazy to pull the bed apart to search for the maintenance label but Sunbeam indicates that the heated mattress pad should NOT be dry cleaned .. given that, I suspect that it is either cotton or a cotton/synthetic blend. It is somewhat arbitrary, though, since you will be placing a sheet over the mattress pad .. take your choice, regular cotton sheets or flannel.
It appears to be cotton, but it might be a blend.
I will go look to see if I can get to the tag etc - Pretty sure my daughters bed isn't made - :)
Great minds.
Yes, very thin cotton.
tag says 100 % polyester
It is a cotton blend - not like the usual mattress cover.
#Quilted_Striped_Heated

QUESTION: IS IT A WOVEN OR NON-WOVEN FABRIC?
IT IS NON-WOVEN FABRIC.
I is a Non- Woven fabric.
Non woven, I love mine. It's very smooth.
The product is just like your normal mattress pad...not woven
Woven. Cotton/ poly blend
#Sunbeam_Thermofine_Review

QUESTION: CAN YOU PUT THE CONNECTOR AT THE HEAD END INSTEAD OF THE FOOT END?
Yes
I don't see why not.
Yes you can .. but be sure to also reverse the position of the controllers as well. I initially did not and found out that I was actually controlling my wife's side of the bed .. I did not realize that until I accidentally left the controller on my side of the bed at level 5 .. she got quite warm :-)
I believe so, but mywife did not want to do it... I feel it with my feet if i look for it, but is not an issue. The issue is- that the heating area is only along the outside edges.
I did and you hear the buzz even more! It goes on and off about every 2 minutes. Also, it does not heat evenly across the bed.
#Sunbeam_Thermofine_Quilted_Striped_Heated

QUESTION: DOES IT FIT ON THE MATTRESS LIKE A FITTED SHEET IT'S SELF OR JUST LAYS ON THE MATTRESS AND A FITTED SHEET HOLDS IT IN PLACE
Yes, it is shaped like a fitted sheet, and it stays on real well!
It fits just like a fitted sheet.

QUESTION: DOES THIS WORK FOR BABIES AS WELL (7 MONTHS AND ABOVE)? OR IS IT NOT RECOMMENDED?
I would be reluctant to use any heated item for infants or young children due to the risk of overheating and their inability to communicate such. I would encourage you to speak with your pediatrician to be certain.
i would not use for babies or young children i bought for my collage age grandson
If you live California you don't need for young baby or under 2 years olds... but if you live other area colder then California you may use it ok. It has controller and higher numbers get warmer just make sure do not leave young baby in high temperature too long.
#Quilted_Striped_Heated

QUESTION: IS THE MATTRESS PAD MACHINE WASHABLE?
yes, use gentle cycle, no bleach, and hang to dry if at all possible.
Yes, but I would use the Gentle Cycle, on your washer, and No Bleach.

QUESTION: WILL THE PAD TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY WHEN PLUGGED IN, OR DO YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE ON/OFF BUTTON?
Thanks for asking me..I keep it plugged in all year round and it only turns on when you push the button. It will stay on I believe for like 8-10 (I think 10) hours until you push the button in again that turns the light (on the button) off. I LOVE LOVE this item...I know you will too.
You need to press the on/off button & select # on dial for heat setting.
AUTOMATICALLY TURNS OFF AFTER 10 HOURS
YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE ON/OFF SWITCH.
you have to press a button on/off but it turns off by itself in 10 hours automatically

QUESTION: I AM CONSIDERING THIS FOR MY ELDERLY MOTHER. I AM CONCERNED IF SHE HAS AN ACCIDENT IN BED AS SHE FREQUDNTLY LOOSES CONTRO OF HER BLADDER.
I don't know if it will work...it probably will ruin the electronics...try a waterproof mattress pad on top or look for one that is waterproof..I saw one somewhere
i would definitely get a waterproof pad to go on top of it. i would also buy this again. it works extremely well[better than others we've had]. the control is very precise and easy to use.
The heated mattress pad does not have a water proof liner.

QUESTION: BOOK SAYS DON'T USE ON ADJUSTABLE BED. WE ONLY TURN IT ON TO HEAT THE BED, THEN TURN IT OFF WHEN WE GET IN. USE IT? OR SEND IT BACK?
Dearest K. Lamoreax, If you have an adjustable bed and the books advises against using the heated matress pad on it, I'd return it. You just don't want to take chances.
I would send it back. Why don't you use a top cover pad so you are not laying on it when you are adjusting the bed.
I would be afraid to use it. Seems to me that if you kink those wires, you might cause a fire.
