QUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIAMETER OF THE BASE (INCHES)? I HAVE ELECTRIC COIL STOVETOP. AND WHAT VOLUME DOES IT HOLD (QUARTS)?
7 inch diameter and I would say probably 2-2 1/2 qts. At 3 it is over the metal rivets.
Approximately 7 inches across. The sides are not as curved as my wife would have liked (too much like a 'V') asian. As it is not intended for boiling liquids I do not know the capacity, but I would guess 1.5 quarts would be the maximum I would try to boil at one time. The pan is an excellently make pan the quality I can feel and see. A great addition to my kitchen!
I also have an electric coil stovetop. The flat part of the base (all that could touch the coil) is 9 inches diameter. Three quarts of water filled it to the edge; I consider more like 2 quarts is the maximum useful capacity, and even that much is awkward. The inside center is one and a half inches below the rim. I have three of these pans. Don't try pan broiling, and be careful about stir frying. They are great until I heat them too hot while dry. When I did that with the first two, the base bulged and won't lie flat on the stove coils, so they don't heat so evenly. The non-stick finish was not harmed. So, I'm babying the third pan, because the non-stick finish works really well!
Most burners are either 6-inches or 8-inches in diameter....Hope this helps
Most electric burners are either 8-inches or 6-inches in diameter.
Most electric burners are either 8-inches or 6-inches in diameter.
This is a guess because I'm not at home, but I'd say the base that sits on the burner is approximately 7" across and I would say you could put about one quart of liquid in it comfortably. Keep in mind that because it has a very open wok-type of profile and is non-stick means that anything liquid will be easy to slosh out. The fact that it has the extra handle on the opposite side does help with that. Since writing my original review, this still remains one of my favorite things to cook with.
The older T-Fal 14" Jumbo Wok with Red Thermo-Spot and has a wide 7" Durabase was 'Made in France' -however- The newer T-Fal Jumbo 14" Wok lacks the Red Thermo-Spot and has a tiny 4" base [flat] bottom and is 'Made in China'. -imho- The newer T-Fal Jumbo 14" Wok with the tiny 4" base [flat] bottom should be used with a Wok Ring for safety. Both measure about 3-1/4" lip-to-base by 14" outer diameter of the lip, and hold 3-Quarts to the Rivets about 1" from the Lip (5-Quarts to the Lip) -cook-safe-my-friends- ~ RHF

QUESTION: DOES IT PEEL WITH USE? THANKS
My pan hasn't but my older tfal pans have with age just don't use metal spoons or forks to stir just plastic or wooden spoons they don't scratch the surface
no
Honestly, I would not know. But what I do know is that woks are generally meant to be used with high temperature, to get that perfect searing and crunch. And so I would not trust the combination of high temperature and coating to last long.
a little
Yes

QUESTION: THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY YOU CAN'T HEAT PAST MEDIUM. THIS SEEMS TOO LOW FOR STIR FRY. HOW HIGH CAN YOU (REALLY) STIR FRY IN THIS PAN WITHOUT DAMAGE?
I have a gas range and use high heat to stir fry with this. The pan looks and cleans the same as when I first got it.
Personally, I think high-heat stir frying is best left to restaurant cooks wearing tee shirts and big aprons. The splatter clean-up doesn't justify the experience. So, I can't say I've cranked the flame up to see how high I can fry. Slightly above medium on my high-BTU burner, the T-fal will give you scorch marks promptly on your marinated meat and veggies. Any higher heat and faster cooking and I probably would burn stuff, so I'm OK with that. Incidentally, the latest Cooks magazine said home cooks are better off using a large non-stick skillet for stir-fry, since it has more flat surface area, and thus the ingredients are not as crowded. To each his own...
I heat my Wok to the desired temperature that I feel is needed and do not concern myself about instructions. No issues so far and I use a 15000 btu burner.
Good grief! You are probably more technical than I am. If the instructions said that i probably didn't read them. It seems to work just fine for stir-fry, but I am far from a professional stir-fryer. Check out an Asian store for the totally authentic...this one works for us.

QUESTION: DOES THIS HAVE A LID?
No it doesn't come with a lid. You may buy it separately.
no it does not but i never use a lid as i like the veggies crisp and i think steaming them makes them mushy. most i think cook them way too long and high hest is necessary. i never leave the stove when stir frying
No just a wok. But awsome
Kenneth, No. I purchased one separately to fit.--Christine

QUESTION: WHERE IS THE WOK MANUFACTURED?
The one I have was manufactured in France. T-Fal is a French company, but has worldwide operations so I don't know if all of their products are made there.
It says Made in France, why? I still use it, but I swear, it is not perfect for stir frying since it glides on your burner but it is perfect for cleaning.
made in China.
It is made in France.
Kevin - this model is made in France, headquarters for T-fal. Other cheaper versions are made in China. Russ
-cook-safe-my-friends- ~ RHF
Sorry, I'm not sure. But possibly China since that's where woks and stir fry originated. I'm currently not at my apartment where the wok is so I can't check if it's marked right on the pan.

QUESTION: DOES THIS WOK COME WITH A LID?
no it does not. And the coat goes off if you use a sharp spatula.
No lid. I have not had any issues with the coat of this item, but I've had other similar products from T-Fal eventually wear out.
Mine did not. I use a large lid that I already had. I never use metal utensils on a nonstick pan.
Nope

QUESTION: WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE SAY THEY ARE RECEIVING WOKS THAT ARE DIFFERENT THAN WHAT IS SHOWN?
T-Fal no longer makes the older 'Made in France' 14" Wok with Red Thermo-Spot and wide 7" Durabase; Amazom was still using the old photo/image and description. Now Amazon is using the newer photo/image and description of a T-Fal Jumbo 14" Wok which is 'Made in China' and lacks the Red Thermo-Spot and wide 7" Durabase. -note- The newer T-Fal Jumbo 14" Wok has a tiny 4" base [flat] bottom and imho should be used with a Wok Ring for safety. -cook-safe-my-friends- ~ RHF
I received exactly what I ordered, in excellent condition, etc. If people are not receiving as ordered, there has been a mistake on one end or the other. Check with the shipper.
That was not the case with my order, so I would just place your order request and wait till you receive the wok. As with Amazon's refund policy, a return can always be done to correct the customer's order.
Poor attention to detail basically.

QUESTION: HOW GOOD IS IT FOR THE OLD SCHOOL ELECTRIC COIL STOVE? WILL IT TAKE A LONG TIME TO COOK UNLIKE USING THE SAME WOK ON GAS STOVE?
I Have a flat Top Stove. It Will Work on Any Stove as The bottom is Flat. Just Put it on a Smaller Burner and It Should Be Fine!
Hi VC Pro... Although I have the glass top stove and have not used the T-fal Wok on the coil burners, I believe it will work on them The bottom of the wok has about a 3-1/2 inch wide circumference that is flat. I took a photo of the wok bottom but I don't see any way to attach it to the Amazon response. Personally though, I do believe this wok will work for you.
It works on coil stove.. Takes normal time cooking, cleans very easly ..it is a great deal, I LOVE it for my oriantal food..just what I wanted..just make sure you do not get too hot as it is not a heavy pan!

Hi! The weight is 3 lbs. It is heavy and a bit awkward. Good luck! :)

QUESTION: IS THIS WOK PART OF THE PROFESSIONAL SERIES, HAS NO PFOA, NO LEAD, NO CADMIUM, AND IS 14 INCHES IN DIAMETER? THANKS
Both the older [French] and newer [Chinese] models of the T-Fal 14" Jumbo Wok are marked: NO PFOA, NO Lead, NO Cadmium; and have a 14" outer Lip diameter with a depth of 3-1/4" bottom-to-lip, and hold 3-Quarts to the Rivets about 1" below the Lip. Neither is marked as the 'Professional Series' and the packaging does not state 'Profession Series. -note- That the 'Professional Series' features the 'Expert' {Prometal Pro} interior base with the Red Thermo-Spot and the hexagon metallic pattern. ~ RHF
I do not know any more about it than the Amazon page describes. Sorry.

Work handle is not designed to be taken off. It is really big compared to regular kitchen pan. Never consider it can be used in oven.
Handle does not come off. We have not tried to put it in the oven. Best to check with manufactor for oven safety
It does not. It will be safe in oven though.

QUESTION: IS THIS WOK MADE FOR INDUCTION COOKTOP?
I think it works on all type of cooktops because there's a red core on the bottom of the wok which allows faster heating. It is a little bit slippery even on regular stove cooktop.
The older [French] T-Fal Jumbo 14" Wok with the Red Thermo-Spot and Durabase; and the newer [Chinese] T-Fal Jumbo 14" Wok missing the Red Thermo-Spot and Durabase: are solid Aluminum Pans and and do not work well with induction cooktops. Induction Cooktops are designed to work best with Steel and Steel Core. -google-induction-cooktop- ~ RHF
We don't know we use gas and it works great. My husband tends to think it wouldn't.
