QUESTION: IS THIS OVEN SAFE?
Daniel O'Connor's information is correct. Inconveniently, the pot label does not specify directly if, and to what degree, the pot is oven-safe. The label does say the soft-touch handles are oven-safe up to 350 F. From the website: "Riveted soft touch silicone handles for comfortable handling; Oven safe to 350 F" The accompanying generic brochure that came with the 8 qt. stockpot: "T-Fal cookware with phenolic (plastic) handles, with or without metal inserts, or stainless steel handles with silicone inserts is oven safe to 350F/175C."The lid handle is phenolic. The glass lid is safe to 350 degrees F. From the generic brochure: "Refer to product packaging for further details on oven use." Sadly, the product packaging gave no further details about oven use. The brochure: "Questions? Call the T-Fal Consumer Relations Helpline in the USA at 800.395.8325...or visit us at www.t-falusa.com"
From the T-Fal Website: #5 - Is T-fal non-stick cookware oven proof? Yes, up to 350 degrees F. only for a maximum of one hour. The pan can only be heated at high temperatures on a hob. When placed in the oven the oven heat should be at a maximum of 350 degrees F° even for a pan with Thermo-Spot as it is the bakelite handles that cannot withstand higher temperatures. T-fal cookware with plastic handles or knobs are not oven proof. Please check the instruction guide that came with the cookware to identify which pieces are in fact oven safe. If you still have any queries, please contact us for clarification. T-fal cookware should never be used in a microwave or convection oven. I do not have the papers that came with my T-Fal items, so I cannot speak directly to this specific item being oven proof.
I am so sorry Norman. I did not keep the pamphlet that came with it so not for sure. I believe it was ok to at least 350 I have not tried it in oven. Lid would be a definate no
To be honest, I have no idea. I personally wouldn't subject it to the heat of an oven. Sorry I couldnt say for sure.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE INSIDE DIAMETER AND OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF THE 12 QUART?
Inside=9 5/8 inches, outside=9 7/8 inches, height=10 1/4 inches.
9 5/8" and 9 3/8". It is a taller than wide so it fits on a standard burner very nicely. It is 1/8" thick aluminum and seams very nice.
I'm not sure and am not home. Its very tall. Very dispointed in it.
#T-fal_A92280

QUESTION: HOW LONG DOES THE NONSTICK SURFACE LAST? WHAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED TO PREVENT SCRATCH THE SURFACE?
It last for years. I have been using T-fal for years. One thing you don't want to do is use metal or scratch pads in it.
I purchased this item not too long ago, but I know you should not, use metal spatulas or used rough surfaces to clean any non stick pot and pans.
The nonstick coating should last many, many years so long as you follow these tips... NEVER use more than medium heat while using this pot, and only use plastic, nylon, or wooden utensils in it. Don't EVER allow metal utensils to come in contact with the inside surface of this pot! This pretty much goes for all decent cookware. If something does stick while cooking, you can fill it up with water and allow the pot to sit over medium heat. Eventually, what's stuck will soften and peel off. A regular soaking can achieve the same thing, but might take a lot longer. Just don't scrub the pan with an abrasive pad or scouring powder! Hope this answers your question.
I got mine in 2011 and still about the same in 2015. It all depends on care and how you utilize the pot to cook. Higher temperatures are a no-no for this type of nonsticks. The same goes for the use of metal utensils. The other part of longevity goes to how you care for your pot when carrying out cleaning. What products and devices you employ to clean it have a great impact on the surfaces (inside and out). The one thing to always keep in mind, is never to use metal utensils! Never use abrasive devices to clean it. Be gentle with the pot, even as it looks sturdy and strong, it's also quite possible to dent it and damage it.

QUESTION: IS THIS NON STICK PFOA FREE
Have no clue,,that would be a question for Amazon or the manufacturer,,sorry
I don't know what u mean by pofa free. I love the pot.
Yes, Fern. This is a non stick pot. I just love this pot. I can make ham and beans in it so easily. It is the perfect size without it being too wide. Love this pot.

QUESTION: WHERE IS THIS T-FAL 12 QT MANUFACTURED?
i cannot tell where it is manufactured but i did find this about the manufacture of the non-stick product, direct from t-fal - it would not let me copy and paste the information so i have to share just the link with you - it is about the non-stick material used in this pan - i've had mind since 2009 and it is still working great and not flaking off or creating any issues. - hope that helps http://www.t-falusa.com/Tefal+magazine/Hot+topics/Environmental+Policy/Health+and+the+Environment.
I contacted T-Fal for the answer. It took them 3 days to get back to me, but the response was: "Most of our current products are manufactured in China. However, some product may still be on the market that was manufactured in France. The box will clearly state the country. Regardless of country of origin, all T-fal/WearEver manufacturing facilities maintain our highest quality standards. A dedicated group of professionals is in place to insure that only top quality goods are produced using stringent safety standards. No lead is used in the construction or manufacturing of any current T-fal/WearEver cookware products. If you have additional questions, please call 1-800-395-8325 and provide the consumer service agent with reference number 140323-000219. Representatives are available from 8:30am to 5:30pm EST, Monday thru Friday." I hope this helps.

QUESTION: DOES IT HAVE A TEFLON OR NON STICK INTERIOR BASE?
YES and it works GREAT! We have been SO happy with this POT!
Non stick I believe
Yes, great pot.
Yes it does, it's a great pot!
It is hard anadozided, neither Teflon nor non-stick
Yes, it is a great pot. I use it often to make soup. Very easy to care clean.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE HEIGHT? I HAVE A DRAWER THAT I KEEP MY POTS IN AND WANT TO MAKE SURE IT WILL FIT
I think this question needs to be clarified, since there are two heights available for this item: each for 8-quart & 12-quart sizes. I got the 8-quart one, which is 8" tall without lid, and 10" with a lid. I suppose other answers which mention a measurement of 10-13 inches refer to the 12-quart pot.
10" tall. Just measured it.
The height of the pan w/o the lid is 10 1/8", if the lid is turned upside down it is 10 3/8", if the lid is put on right side up that adds another 2 5/8" for a overall total of 12 3/4". I have not used this pan very much as it is taller than it is wide and not very user friendly as most of my spoons aren't much longer than 13" and that doesn't give you much to hold on too. If given a choice, i would NOT buy this pan again.
Without the lid, the pot is about 10 1/4 inches tall. (It is NOT 7 or 8 inches tall!) With the lid on, it comes to about 13 1/4 inches. We don't use it often, but when we need it, it's great. Given a choice, I would definitely buy this pot again.
If you flip the top, 11. 3 inches; with top as in picture, it si 13 inches.
10 inch height
Right around 7 inches tall. And 8 with the lid.
It is 8 inch tall and the diameter is 9 inch.

QUESTION: SOMEONE MENTIONED THE GROOVED BOTTOM BEING HARD TO CLEAN. IT THE BOTTOM ACTUALLY GROOVED?
No, at least not in the one I received.
yes it is
yep
There are some ever-so slight grooves meant to aid in heat distribution. I don't find them a challenge at all. One of my fave pots to cook in and it was a great value.

QUESTION: WOULD THIS POT BE GOOD FOR MAKING PASTA, AND WHAT ABOUT COOKING RICE?
It is perfect for pasta, with plenty of room for a pound of noodles, and fettucini and spaghetti don't need to be broken. But rice... this pot is very large, I wouldn't know how to make rice in an 8 quart pot.
Perfect for pasta, rice and homemade popcorn!
Yes to both... my wife actually uses it to make her own pasta sauce all the time.
Yes, I bought several T-fal pots and they are the best non-stick I have used. Makes for easy clean up after cooking too. I think the glass lid with the air holes is what helps, but be sure that it does not boil over.
its a good size pot for making sauce but there is no strainer
I think this pot would cook both perfectly. I really enjoy using this pot!
The pot is great for pasta but I don't know about rice. Personally I wouldn't cook rice in it. It is a very tall pot and not very wide. Great for cooking a lobster
I use this a lot for making pasta, soups and lobster :-)
#T-fal_A92280_Specialty_Total_Nonstick

QUESTION: IS THE INSIDE NONSTICK COATING ON THIS POT TEFLON OR CERAMIC?
It is a Teflon coating.
Teflon and I love it!!!!!
It is nonstick
I bought this set and added the stock pot for my daughter....the pots R non stick, this also should be
The inside of the Tfal pot is nonstick and is an excellent buy
#T-fal_A92280

QUESTION: CAN YOU COOK AND THEN REFIGERATE AND STORE IN THE POT?
I do that all the time!
Absolutely, assuming of course that you have a refrigerator shelf that's tall enough.
I wouldn't. The lid doesn't fit tightly at all. As a matter of fact, I sent it back twice because of the loose lid. The first time I figured it was a fluke. But the replacement pot was just as bad. I gave up and bought a Calphalon.
I `ve made soup & then refrigerated in the pot to reheat the next day...it was fine....when I placed it on the stovetop I reheated on low slowly as I have a glasstop stove & then turned it up once warm to heat it until hot...
You can yes, but I don't like to store food too long in a pot. It doesn't hurt the pot to refrigerate food in it. Always let the food cool down a bit before putting it in the refrigerator. It's a pretty tall pot to put in a fridge. This pot is nice because it is slimmer and taller so it doesn't take a lot of room on the stove if you have other pots at the same time.
#Specialty_Total_Nonstick

QUESTION: WHAT COLOR IS THE INSIDE OF THE POT?
Black
Black
Black, I've used it already, it's on the heavy side but that's what I was looking for.. trying to find out if they have one bigger in diameter, but this one is ok too.
It is Black, it is a very well made pan, not cheap at all

QUESTION: IS IT REALLY "NONSTICK"? IS IT EASY TO CLEAN?
Yes! it`s really nonstick.. & very easy to clean using those scrubby sponges..
It is not perfectly not stick. But I have a regular metal pot and I have to scrub it strong to clean it. The T-fal is nonstick for sure. I have a full set of pots made by T-Fal I have on my list to purchase next!
Yes, made tomato sauce and it didn't burn and it was an easy clean up with a soapy dish cloth.
so far it's been non stick, easy to clean but I guess it may very depending on if you burn food.
It is "NON-STICK", I absolutely LOVE this pot, I got it for Chicken and Dumplings and Goulash and soups and that kind of stuff, and I TRUELY, TRUELY LOVE IT!!! I will end up buying at least 1 more, but possibly 2 more...
Yes it is really non-stick & easy to clean, I've had mine over a year, I fix chicken & dumplings & soups & stews in mine....I LOVE THIS POT & WILL BE BUYING AT LEAST 1 MORE...
#T-fal_A92280_Specialty_Total_Nonstick

QUESTION: IN WHICH COUNTRY IS THIS POT MADE?
Per the packaging that the pot came in, it is made in China.
On the pot and in the literature that came with it, it says MADE IN CHINA.
They are made in France. I Googled the question and was happily surprised to find they are a good company.
#T-fal_A92280

QUESTION: WITH THIS POT BEING SO TALL, IS IT STILL EASY TO SAUTÉ ONIONS/GARLIC AND EASILY STIR GROUND MEATS?
If you have a long enough spoon, it's just as easy.
Yes it is. The pot is tall, but the opening is wide enough not to be an issue. Just use a long handled utensil.
It is possible however you need a very long spoon to move the food. I have made half of the pot of soup and I wear a pot holder mitt to stir because it gets very hot trying to reach all the way down to the bottom.
I wouldn't think so. Perhaps with a long tefelon spatula. I bought one for my daughter..and she likes it for soups. I bought a extra long and wide soup laddle for her. Found it at a Amish store. I'm pleased with my T-fal pot.
you will need a long spoon and if u are a short person it can b hard but I like my pot
Both my husband and I use it and have no problem but again it depends on what we are making.
Yes, just use your long wooden spoons.
#Specialty_Total_Nonstick

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIAMETER AND DEPTH OF POT ONLY
The diameter is 9.5 inches and the depth is 10 inches of the pot only.
Inside diameter is 9 3/8". Depth of pot is 10". FYI, I love this pot.
Can someone tell me how wide the pot is, including the handles? (for the 12 quart)
#T-fal_A92280_Review

QUESTION: CAN THE T-FAL POTS BE USED ON A SMOOTHTOP STOVE? NOT AN INDUCTION STOVE BUT A GLASS TOP. I'VE BEEN TOLD NOT TO USE ALUMINUM DUE TO SCRATCHING OF THE
Good quality silica glass should not be susceptible to scratches by bare aluminum (or steel, which is harder and therefore more likely to scratch). If anything the glass should scratch the aluminum. That being said, I don't know the quality of your glass range...
I used it on my glass stove top without a problem! The bottom of it isn't rough and I really haven't had an issues since using this stockpot!
The T-fal pot was a gift so I'm not sure if it will scratch the glass stove top or not. Just as a reference, I have scratched my glass stove top with my Revere pots so if you use T-fal pots be careful not to drag them across the glass stove top surface.
Out of town so I'm working from memory here, but I recall it has bare aluminum concentric rings on its bottom.

QUESTION: THIS ITEM CAME UP IN MY SEARCH FOR INDUCTION COOKWARE. WILL THIS POT WORK ON AN INDUCTION COOKTOP?
I have this pot and just love it. I don't know what an induction cooktop is. I have a flat top stove and this pot does wonderfully on it.
I would say so but I have a cool top
#T-fal_A92280

QUESTION: WOULD THIS (8 QUART) WORK WELL FOR CRAB LEGS?
I have not tried Crab Legs in the pot, but I would expect it would do the job . The pot is better quality than my last one and does not burn or scorch the foods I'm preparing in it. It is deep/tall enough that Crab legs should not be a problem. I hope this helps your decision.
Not familiar with crab legs. Interior is 8" deep (to the rim) and 8 1/2" wide.
If it fits in an 8 quart pot it should work. I use it mostly for soups.
Yes it would. However...if you plan to cook a large amount...go with the 12 quart pot. Very nice product
I have the 12 quart and that would work very well for crab legs. I couldn't say specifically for the 8 quart. I do LOVE this pot in general. I just made a full pot of beef barley vegetable soup and had no issue with anything sticking to the bottom.
It would only work for crab legs if you invited me over to help eat them.

QUESTION: DOES IT HAVE A GLASS LID?
Yes it has a glass lid with a steam hole. Fantastic pot!!
Yes.
yes
Yes, it does
Yes has vented glass lid
Yes, you can see it in the picture, it has a steam hole as well. Best purchase made ever for when it comes to pots.
#T-fal_A92280_Review

QUESTION: WOULD THIS BE GOOD FOR JAM/ JELLY/ PRESERVE MAKING?
Because the top is vented, the answer is yes. However because the company, substantively, no longer provides a warranty, I cannot recommend.
I believe so. It is huge. If you are making a lot of jelly it,should be perfect
I don't can so I can't give you a good answer. I suppose if you were doing tall jars this would be good to use. Normally I think you would use a wider pot for canning. This is a more narrow and taller pot which is why it makes a great soup pot. Fits on the burner better and can make a big pot of soup or stew
The pot itself would be fine for making jelly/jam, however, the 12 qt. that I ordered is quite tall. I would use the 8 qt. with a wider top for better access to the preserves. I use my pot for making large batches of soup. Food never sticks in it.
#T-fal_A92280_Specialty_Total_Nonstick

QUESTION: CAN THIS BE USED ON A CERAMIC COOKTOP?
We're using it on a Kitchenaid "Ceramic-Glass" cooktop and it works fine. The instructions for this pot say to keep it at medium heat or below, which is what we do.
Yes, It cooks great on a ceramic cook top.
#T-fal_A92280

QUESTION: DOES THIS WORK WITH AN INDUCTION COOKTOP?
I checked on the Tefal online webpage and found that Tefal pot is Induction-compatible Stainless Steel base. So it will work on induction cooktop. http://www.tefal.com/Cookware-%26-Kitchenware/Pots-%26-Pans/Robust-and-longlasting/Talent/p/R-talent
It does not
To elaborate a little further. Induction compatible cookware is made with ferris metals. So after trying to stick a magnet to the bottom of the pot it did not stick. Also newer cooking ware is often labeled as induction suitable as my new set is, and after testing those with a magnet the magnet stuck. So again. This pot does not work with an induction cooktop.
#Specialty_Total_Nonstick

QUESTION: CAN THIS POT USE FOR INDUCTION COOK TOP
Yes I use it on mine.
I use it on mine.
The best way to find out if any cookware can be used with the induction cook top is: by using a magnet, if it stickes to the bottom of the pot, yes it will work.
#T-fal_A92280_Review

QUESTION: DOES IT HAVE A GLASS TOP?
Yes it does.
Yes it has a glass lid with a small pressure release on it.
Yes it has a glass lid with a small pressure release on it.
Yes, it has a glass top. The handle is screwed on, and fits loosely, and CANNOT be tightened with the screw. I tried to tighten the screw, not realizing it wasn't doing anything, thinking the handle should be tighter, and ended up busting the plastic on the handle by tightening it too tight. Just don't do that! LOVE the pot.
yes
Yes this pot is perfect!!!
Yes it has a very sturdy Glass Lid. I dropped mine accidentally and it was totally unmarked
Yes this has a glass top.

Yes
No
I don't know, but I like it, time will only tell if it is or not. Sorry

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE HEIGHT OF THE 8 QUART UNIT (BOTH WITH AND WITHOUT THE LID)?
Without lid, it's 8-inch high. With lid, it's 10-inch high.
Pot with lid: 10.75" tall Pot without lid (tallest point is top of handle): 8.75" Pot without lid (to top of pot): 8.125"
about 10 inches
I had purchased with 12 quart unit which is quite large. The unit with the lid is 12 inches tall and without the lid it is 10 inches. I also have an 8 quart but it is an older model it is 8 inches without the lid and a little under 10 inches with the lid on. I hope this helps.
I purchased the 12 quart and it is approx. 12 to 14" tall
#Specialty_Total_Nonstick

QUESTION: IS IT FOR INDUCTION COOKING?
No I do not think so.
I don't know, I have an electric range. You might google it and ask if it could be used for induction cooking. Sorry I couldn't answer your question.
Sorry, not sure.
#T-fal_A92280_Review

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE HEIGHT OF THE POT WITH LID ON?
10 1/4 inches without lid. 12 1/2 inches with lid. If you fill it all the way up you need a long spoon to stir stuff.
Approx. 14 inches
I purchased the 12 quart pot as a gift and have been told that it is wonderful. The pot with lid is 11" tall and the diameter is 10". If you add in the handles, it 11" wide. Hope that helps
It is 12.5 inches tall from bottom to top of the handle on the lid. It is a great pot I have yet to overfill it. I did try my best to though, I cooked 15lb's of potatoes with ease.

Yes. My food cooks evenly on my induction cooktop. I really recommend this pot. I use it for soups, gumbo, and pasta. It is fabulous for everything!
Yes, I have induction cooktop
#T-fal_A92280

QUESTION: CAN YOU COOK RICE IN IT, AS IT HAS A VENT IN THE LID?
Living in South Louisiana, I bought this stock pot for my daughter to go with the set of T-fal pots....this being used for soups and gumbo....we HAVE rice cookers, so saying this is a good rice pot...hmmmm. I think it's pretty tall for that, this is not saying u couldn't use it as a rice cooker, but why would u
Yes you can cook rice a very big pot!!!
Yes. It doesn't vent a lot.
I have not tried to cook rice in the Tfal but I do not see why you could not as I cook rice in many different pans.

QUESTION: HOW WIDE IS THE POST INCLUDING THE HANDLES? I SEE IT IS 9 INCHES NOT INCLUDING HANDLES..
Including the handles, it is 13 1/2 inches wide.
About 13-14 inches
Poor Quality. The the top was drop only ones and broke.
#T-fal_A92280_Review

QUESTION: DOES THIS POT NEED TO BE SEASONED
No, it does not. It is ready to use right out of the box. Excellent product!
In the Use & Care instruction manual that accompanies the pot, it says, "For cookware with a non-stick interior, it recommended to 'season' the pan prior to the first use...and after every 10 dishwasher cycles or if accidental overheating occurs. Heat pan on low for 30 seconds, remove heat and put one tablespoon of vegetable oil in pot. Rub oil over the entire surface with a paper towel."
