QUESTION: CAN I USE THE SAUCEPAN IN OVEN FOR BAKING?
The T-fal "Use and Care Instructions" says, "T-fal cookware with handles made completely out of aluminum or stainless steel is oven-safe to 500 degrees F/260 degrees C." C798SC64 has all metal handles.
Oven safe to 500 degrees
I haven't personally used the saucepan in the oven for baking, but it seems sturdy enough.
Yes use some oil or Pam in it so u don't have sticking
Yes, no extreme temperatures and never put a hot pan into cold water it could warp. I have had the set now for more than a month now and have enjoyed them. I am happy with the conduction and the weight. If I get a little something that needs polishing off I use the liquid that I clean my stove top with and comes out like new.
#Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: DO THE COVERS FIT ON THE PANS?
Yes, the covers fit perfectly on the pans.
Of course they do
Yes they fit, but the handles also get extremely hot.
No, wish they did
No, they only fit the pots. That would be awesome, but nope!
#T-fal_C836SC_Review

QUESTION: 18/10 STAINLESS STEEL CONSTRUCTION ; IS THIS IMPORTANT IS THIS SET HEAVIER THAN REVERE WARE?
The big problem with this product is how dangerous it is. The handles get so hot you can burn your hands. I would never buy these again or recommend them to anyone.
As heavy Arthur. It's quality cookware that will never deteriorate. I do wish the skillet had a lid but there is an extra skillet to get for that.
18/10 means that 18% is chromium and 10% is nickel. The higher the nickel content, the more protection the flatware has from corrosion. Or that is what an internet search said. It is a heavier than the 30-40 year old revere ware pot I had (which I liked also). Just do not leave it on a burner and forget it like I did.
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: IS IT MADE IN THE US?
There is no indication on the pans where they are made.....
I bought a set last year and I did not look on the box to see where it was made. It works food, just don't turn the heat up too high when you are using it.
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: IS IT NON STICK?
No. A little oil or butter usually does the trick though
Not in the way you would traditionally think of, with Teflon coating. This I'd wonderfully polished stainless steel, which in my mind is healthier, that's why I bought it, but that's my opinion. I normally cook at a lower temp, and use a little oil. I use coconut oil. I do hope this helps, as I think this set was one of my smarter moves!
It doesn't have a non stick coating but I usually don't have too many problems. For foods like eggs I just rinse it out while it's hot. If you are looking for the slick coating of non stick material this is not it.
no, these pans are not non stick
No, it is not a non stick product.

QUESTION: IS THE DUTCH OVEN ROUND OR OVAL SHAPED?
round
Round
All the pieces in this set are round. I've had this set for about 3 years now and still love it.
Our set did not include a dutch oven. However all of the pots are round.

QUESTION: WILL THEY WORK ON GLASS INDUCTION COOKTOPS?
sorry I have no idea. I have a gas stove and have never used a glass induction cooktop.
I too have only used them on a regular electric cooktop so have no idea about the glass cooktop.
My cooktop is glass, but I do not know if it is induction. However, if this helps, the T-Fal cooks quickly on my stovetop. Faster than nonstick. And more even. I will admit cooking sauerkraut in my large pot caused discoloration which I was a little shocked by. It doesn't affect the performance or taste of food it just doesn't look too pretty, looks like I don't know how to wash dishes.
They're induction ready. Should work just fine Stephen.
I am not sure.Sorry.
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: DO THESE WORK WELL ON GLASS COOK TOPS? ANY SCRATCHING??
I haven't gotten any scratches from mine but I avoid dragging the pans across my stove.
Works well. No scratches.
sorry i dont know i have a regular ole stove lol

QUESTION: WARRANTY
For the life of me I can't find the paper work I got with this set. But, if I remember right it was one year limited warranty. They are a decent set. But, you may want to get the Bar Keepers Friend to keep it clean and shiny. Even with that I have noticed the outside of my large skillet starting to get caked (my husband doesn't use the bar keepers friend as much as me and he usually washes this pan.). Sorry I couldn't be more help. I will keep looking and update this if I find it.

QUESTION: INDUCTION USE?
i m not really sure what u mean by this. But over all I havent had any issue yet and i m using it since a year now.
I use mine on a glass cooktop daily with no problems. I use heat setting 4 most of the time.
#T-fal_C836SC_Review

QUESTION: INDUCTION COOKING?
Works great on my induction cook top.
I need to revise my previous review. I had my kitchen built from the floor up. New everything including my new gas stove, which I'd never had before. I used an older pot not long ago and the handles were so hot. Which had never happened in my old kitchen on my electric stove. SO the pots are wonderful and my gas stove it the reason for the hot handles, not the product.
No, just an electric, cast-iron burner. These were popular about 20 years ago, I think they were a European design. They're problematic because if the pan/pot isn't perfectly flat, the heat transfer isn't good. I think this sort of burner is rare today, but caveat emptor.
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: CAN THESE BE USE ON A GLASS TOP STOVE
Yes, they can.
Sorry, not sure. I use a gas range.
Yes
they work great on a glass top stove
I've used the set on a glass top as well as burners, no problem
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: IS IT NON STICK
It is not non stick. But the eveness in which it cooks prevails for me. Cleans easy.
Stainless steel will never be as nonstick as a Teflon set, but with a good oil and attention you can lessen the amount of time you have to spend cleaning. So, no but its still a nice set.
I use Pam in my pans or lots of butter/oil :) I really have to scrub to get residue out, but these pans cook great and I would buy them again. I have not had a problem with food sticking.
No it is not non-stick cookware
We purchased the items as Xmas gift and have not used them ourselves. However I believe that it is non stick as that was a feature we desired in the product that we purchased.
#Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: IS THIS COOKWARE FOR USE WITH INDUCTION COOK TOPS
Yes
Yes the cookware is made for induction cook tops.
I don't know they stick so bad. I quit using them. I tried everything. Sorry not much help
#T-fal_C836SC_Review

QUESTION: IS THIS SET HEAVY TO LIFT - CONSIDERING FOR AN ELDERLY PERSON?
No, they are beautifully crafted and are average weight for stainless steel. Not heavy like cast iron, somewhere in-between non-stick and cast iron. I find them easy to use, however, they do stain easily and the handles do get hot. Despite this, I love these pans. No more wasting money on non-stick that peel.
The pasta pot would probably be considered the heaviest in this set. However this isn't heavier than any other stainless steel. Definitely not cast iron heavy! ;)
A little heaver than normal pots and pans because it a higher quality product. I bought for my 72 old wife and she did not complain about them being heave
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: LID
The lids are well constructed, seal well, retain heat. Heavy glass, well made
What is the questions
Is there a question here? I learned that you do need to preheat these but they are great!
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: HI EVERYONE, ANYONE KNOW THE REASON WHY THERE ARE HOLES IN THE LIDS? AND IS THERE A CAP FOR THAT HOLE OR SOMETHING? THANKS
I would think to vent.
Since these lids are much more well fitted than the ones that come with cheaper sets the hole is necessary, otherwise you would have a pressure cooker.
The hole is there to vent but it also prevents the glass from breaking at high temperatures.
CJ has it right - the lids are tight so it vents - love it so far - I've had my set for several months
True, its's there to vent, but also, should you cook something to temperature, and left the top on, and allowed to cool...the lid would form a vacuum, making it difficult to get off...
#Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: DOES THIS SET REALLY HAVE ISSUES WITH HANDLES GETTING HOT? OWNERS, KINDLY CLARIFY
On the stove top, no. But I always use a hot pad when using it in my oven.
I've had the set over a year. I say no.
#T-fal_C836SC_Review

QUESTION: IS IT NORMAL FOR THE NEW POT TO HAVE SCRATCHES AND STAINS? I JUST GOT THIS SET AND FOUND MOST HAVE SCRATCHES AND SOME HAVE A FEW BLACK STAINS.
Of the thousand of these pots and pans bought I can not speak to what "normal" might be. I can speak to our purchase: They were bright and shiny and look brand new.
Scratches, maybe a few initially. You will get lots once in use; surface scruffy scratches are not a problem. Black stains??? Maybe not a new set? Try getting stains off with Bar Tenders Friend or Bon Ami - which you should use regularly on the pots anyway.
No! I would contact the manufacturer/seller for a return/exchange. They should be shiny and perfect!
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: INDUCTION
Yes, it can be used on an induction stove.
Yes it does...
Yes, it will work just fine with induction. I just got a set for my sister and she has and induction. Worked just fine.
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: WHERE IS THIS MADE? I AM LOOKING FOR MADE IN THE USA COOKWARE AT A REASONABLE PRICE. IDEAS WELCOME
Good question. I researched this prior to purchasing the T-fal C798SC64 set. Originally Tefal, was manufactured in France by Groupe SEB and for the first time was imported to the USA in early 1960. The name, Tefal in USA is marketed as T-Fal. I believe that T-fal now is manufactured in the USA in West Orange, NJ, with a 513,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing, assembly and warehousing facility in Millville, NJ that also serves as its North American distribution center.
T-fal is usually France, the pans do not say on the bottom where they are from!
I think it's made in France.
#Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: WILL THIS SET WORK WELL WITH A CERAMIC (RADIANT HEAT) COOKTOP?
Yes
Because of the built-in copper inserts it should heat up well with any cook top. I am using a glass top stove, works great!
#T-fal_C836SC_Review

QUESTION: DOES COOKWARE HAVE COOL HANDLES
Yes it does. They stay cool on the cooktop, but are metal, so if it went in the oven it would definitely be hot.
hi, no, they are SS handles, they can get hot depending on how close to the source of heat are. Also the pot covers when making soup for instance, they get hot.
No, they are not "cool" although if you are careful not to let them be above another burner that is one, they don't get quite as hot as one might think. You do need to have potholders on hand, even though I believe these are designed to stay as cool as possible.
Yes, never a problem unless you put it in the oven.
No, they get hot.
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: DOES IT COME WITH STEAM INSERT?
Not the set that we purchased, Riza. Our set included the basic pots and pans. However, T-fal may make accessories like steam inserts, etc.
No, it does not
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: ARE THEY HEAVY? AS IN DO THEY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE QUALITY OR ARE DO THEY FEEL LIGHTWEIGHT AND CHEAP.
They do not feel light and cheap. They are not as heavy as the professional grade which I could not pick up and use comfortably. You can use them induction cooking, on the stove or in the oven. We are really pleased with our purchase.
They feel nice and heavy, solid, well made. Handles feel a little cheap but they're riveted on solidly.
They are good medium-weight cookware. Definitely not lightweight and cheap. Great value for the price.
These are good quality pots and pans. I've had them over a year now and they have held up quite nicely!
#Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: IS THIS CERTIFIED INDUCTION COOKWARE?
I am not sure if it's induction certified. I have a gas stove.
I have no idea what that means but I will check the paperwork that came with it
#T-fal_C836SC_Review

QUESTION: DO THE LIDS FIT THE SAUTÉ PANS?
No, they do not fit the saute pans, only the sauce pans.
one lid fits on the smaller saute pan,the large lid does not fit the large saute pan were it should, but does snug up about 1/2 way down so it can be used in a pinch.we use it like that all the time but wish we had a proper lid for it.
yes
Yes on the rim of the small pan and inthe upper curve of the large
The lid to the larger sauce pan fits on the smaller saute pan, but that is the only one that works. The biggest pot lid does not fit on the larger saute pan unfortunately. It is a tad too small. Hope that helps!
Yes, perfectly
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: IS IT OVEN SAFE
Yes it is.
According to the manual, yes, for the stainless steel. "Cookware is oven safe to 500°F/260°C, if handles are also stainless steel."
NO
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: IS THIS PRODUCT OVEN SAFE?
Sorry, unfortunately I haven't tried, so I don't know. may wanna read some reviews. Although I do have something say the small 8 inch pan -- the handle is too heavy for pan, it just tips over. very annoying I dont even use it anymore.
I've only used on the stove so far. But I don't see why it wouldn't be safe.
Yes, this cookware is oven safe. I wasn't sure since I have never put it in the oven but I got out my manual to check and it is.
I have done pan seared steaks with these pans. Seared the steaks on the cook top then finish in the oven. Deglaze the juices after oven back on the stove top.
#Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: IS THIS MADE IN CHINA?
Yes, it is.
I remember as Chinese products.
on my warranty it's a division of groupe SEB USA . toll free telephone # is 800.395.8325.

QUESTION: IS IT SUITABLE FOR INDUCTION COOKER?
That's what I use them on. They all work perfectly too.
I've not had long, but works on my induction. Some discoloring on bottom of pans. I don't hang them up so not a big deal with me.
http://thecookwarereviews.blogspot.com/2012/08/t-fal-c798sc64-ultimate-stainless-steel.html
With a stainless steel/copper bottom, I believe induction will work well with this set.
I don't see why not - so long as the heat isn't above med-high. These pans do get very hot even on medium settings.
Yes, it can be used with an induction cook top.
Yes it is (at least for me)
#T-fal_C836SC_Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: IS IT COMPATIBLE ON GAS STOVES?
from what I understand these pots and pans work on any surface. Convection is the difficult one. Works great on that.
yes!
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: MADE IN CHINA?
USA, believe or not.
Sorry I don;t know. The individual pieces don't have made in written on them and we threw away the box it came in. I am guessing it is China. Could be USA too. The quality is good for the price.
Sorry. I didn't keep the box and can't find any paperwork that came with the set. All I know is I love the set and am so glad I decided to get rid of my flaking non stick.
that is what the box said. I am using mine and it seems to be good quality. No sticking problems and retains heat very well
Not sure. I gave them as a gift.
Not sure since I got rid of it all.
#Ultimate_Stainless_Steel

QUESTION: DO THE HANDLES STAY COOL.
Yes
Yes
No
No they get very hot. Also they had a odd shape to them so it's hard to find insulators for them.
Yes
#T-fal_C836SC_Review

QUESTION: ARE THEY NON-STICK?
They are not non-stick.
no they aren't
No but the cook amazing and a little oil will prevent sticking...
No, they aren't. Stainless steel. After years of teflon, it's kinda nice to have a change. They clean up real well.
They are not
They stick! Trust!
No. The whole appeal of stainless steel is that it does not contain the potentially hazardous chemicals that non stick coatings tend to have. Nothing that a little PAM or olive oil can't fix. They will also outlast a typical non stick set and not to mention they look pretty too.
No they are not non-stick.

QUESTION: ARE THE INTERNAL RIVETS MADE FROM ALUMINUM?
The rivets are steel. I tested them with my trusty magnet!
Thank you! This was my one hesitation.
#T-fal_C836SC

QUESTION: DISHWASHER SAFE
They are dishwasher safe, however the use & care instructions state that the "stainless steel exterior finishes may discolor and become dull due to the abrasive nature of dishwasher detergents. These effects are not covered under the warranty."
Yes they are! Sorry for the late response as I am still in a hospital with terrible internet service! True it loses shine in a dishwasher but when family visit I uses a silver polishing cloth and a little wipe is all it takes!
Yes they are! Sorry as I have a terrible connection in this, my last hospital!

QUESTION: IS THIS MADE FOR INDUCTION COOKING
No, not as far as I know from my using them
Use it on my induction cooker with no problems
No idea

QUESTION: IS THE COPPER BOTTOM ONLY A COATING? MINE HAS COME OFF. I WASH WITH BAR KEEPER'S FRIEND.
Mine shows no sign of that or that ot would ever do it.
Mine also has come off.
The copper bottom is a layer sandwiched between two layers of aluminum. Even if it's not showing, the copper is still there. They appear to have added small amounts to the bottom for looks in these sets and that's most likely what's coming off.
It seems that the copper ring around the bottom is a decoration. However, I believe there is copper inside the pan that is not visible from the outside.

QUESTION: IS IT NECESSARY TO SEASON THESE POTS?
No just use low heat it will cook just as fast
no...heat them up add your oil and cook

Yes. Straight to oven. No problems or deviation from method or taste. Always use pot holders or oven mitts when removing.
I have, Works just fine
No, I haven't tried the stove top to the oven cooking technique for this cookware yet. But I must say, I am really pleased with the stove top cooking I have done - even heating, being able to use lower temperatures, and easy clean up.
No one in my family has tried it
